William and Jane Brown papers, Archives of American Art

 Sub-Group

Abstract

The records in this series are important Penland School of Crafts documents that were retained by Bill and Jane Brown after they left Penland in 1982. The records were photocopied in 1991 before being micro-filmed by the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution. The originals were later, c. 2015, donated to the Archives of American Art by Jane Brown, along with additional materials. Because many of the documents relate to official school business the decision was made to keep these photocopies as a separate sub-group to complement the archives' William Brown records.
