Abstract
Correspondence of Bill Brown, but also including Bonnie Ford, Byrne Tinney, Linda Darty, and Jane Brown. A great deal of correspondence is about class enrollment and informational requests. This series is missing a great deal. The bulk of material is from 1976-1980 and 1983, but even those years are incomplete. Archives of American Art may have some additional Penland era correspondence, however much of Brown's correspondence should be considered missing.
Arrangement
This series has two parts which reflect how the material was found. Several early years have been kept in chronological folders as found, this includes 1962, 1963, and 1964. 5oth anniversary letters are also kept together in Letters, 1979. The bulk of correspondence, 1970s-1983, is filed in alphabetical folders. Some correspondence is located in other files in this collection and files in other series should be explored for pertinent correspondence--cross references are posted in general notes as an aid for locating these files.
